Waterloo Tour: At Waterloo, Wellington's HeadquartersBy Fons Libert, FINS
The Wellington MuseumIt was in this former inn, across from the Waterloo church, that Wellington's headquarters were located. He spend the night of 17-18 June 1815 here. It was also in this inn that Lord Gordon, Colonel of the 92 Highlanders and Wellington's ADC died. This museum has a fine collection, for instance the wooden leg of Lord Uxbridge, an authentic French canon, the bed Wellington slept in, one of his coats and the bed Gordon died in.
Major Heylandt's StoneMajor Heylant was an officer of the 40th Regiment of Foot. His stone is located in the garden of the Wellington Museum.
