Notes:

1. 1 British Pound = 20 Shillings; 1 British Shilling = 12 Pence
2. Captains in the infantry, artillery, and horse artillery,holding a higher brevet rank had a 2 shilling per diem increase in pay.
3. Lieutenants in the infantry and artillery, who held the rank for at least 7 years had a 1 shilling per diem increase in pay.
4. A cavalry quartermaster received 2 shillings per diem for maintenance of a horse.
5. Surgeons' pay increased to 14 shilling 1 pence per diem after seven years' service in the line, and to 18 shillings 10 pence per diem after twenty years; this also applied to artillery surgeons. Veterninary surgeon's pay in the cavalry increased to 10 shillings per diem after three years' service, to 12 shillings per diem after ten years, and to 13 shillings per diem after twenty years.
