Greville, Charles John (5 April 1780 - 2 December 1836)

2nd son of George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick

Cornet Warwickshire Corps of Fencible Cavalry 1795, Lieutenant Warwickshire Corps of Fencible Cavalry 1795,  Ensign 6th Foot 1796, Lieutenant 10th Foot 1796,  Captain 10th Foot 1799, Half-pay, Captain 81st Foot 1803, Major 38th Foot 1803, Lieutenant Colonel 38th Foot 1805, Brevet Colonel 1813, Major General 1819.

Early Service: India 1796-1801, Egypt 1801-1802.

Portugal & Spain: Portugal and Spain 1808-1809 and Vimeiro 1808 and Corunna 1809.

Peninsular War: with regiment 1812 and subsequently had temporary command of brigades in 5th Division June-July 1812, January - April 1813, October 1813-January 1814, April 1814.

Other Service: Walcheren 1809. Appointed to command 12th Brigade France and Flanders July 1815.

MP 1816-1831, 1832-1833, 1835-1836.

KCB 1815.  Colonel of 98th Foot 1832-1836,  38th Foot 1836.
