in War of 1812 with a planned expedition to America 1814, but expedition
cancelled. Appointed Adjutant-General Ireland 1814. Lieutenant Governor
and Commander of Upper Canada 1814-1815. Quartermaster-General to the
army in France 1815 and served as Chief-of-Staff to the Army of Occupation
1815-1818. Governor Royal Military Academy 1819-1824. Lieutenant General
of the Ordnance 1824-1825. Commander-in-Chief Ireland 1825-1828. Proposed
as General Commanding the Army 1828. Secretary of State for War and
the Colonies 1828-1830. Master General of the Ordnance 1834-1835 and
