Brisbane, Thomas (23 July 1773 - 27 January 1860)

Changed name to Makdougall-Brisbane 1826.

Ensign 71st Foot* 1782, Half-pay 1783, Ensign 38th Foot 1789, Lieutenant 38th Foot 1791, Captain Independent Company 1793, Captain 53rd Foot 1794, Major 53rd Foot 1795, Lieutenant-Colonel 69th Foot 1800, Half-pay 1805, Brevet Colonel 1810, Brigadier General on the Staff 1812, Major General 1813, Lieutenant General 1825, General 1841.  *disbanded 1783.

Early Service: Flanders 1793-1795 and wounded, West Indies 1795-1798, 1800-1803. Assistant Adjutant-General Home Staff 1810-1812.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigade 3rd Division March 1813-April 1814. Wounded at Toulouse April 1814.

Other Service: Commanded brigade War of 1812 British North America 1814-1815. Temporarily commanded 7th Division France 1815. Commanded 5th Brigade 1815-1817 and 3rd Brigade 1817-1818 Army of Occupation France . On Home Staff 1818-1821. Governor of New South Wales 1821-1825.

KCB 1815. GCB 1837. GCH 1831. Created a Baronet 1836. Colonel of 34th Foot 1826-1860.
