Collins, Richard  (1775?- 18 February 1813)

Ensign 82nd Foot 1794, Lieutenant 82nd Foot 1794, Lieutenant 53rd Foot 1795, Captain 2nd West India Regiment 1799, Captain 4th West India Regiment 1800, Major 12th West India Regiment 1802, Half-pay, Major 1st Garrison Battalion* 1804, Major 3rd Garrison Battalion 1805, Major 83rd Foot 1805, Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 1808, Lieutenant-Colonel 83rd Foot, 1809.

*disbanded 1805.

Served in Portuguese Service 1810-1813. Promoted Colonel 11th Infantry Regiment  1810. 

Early Service: West Indies 1795-1802 and wounded. Cape of Good Hope 1806-1810.

Portugal & Spain: with regiment 1809.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigades of the Portuguese Army 1810-1813. Wounded at Albuera 1811 and Salamanca 1812. Died of illness in the Peninsula 1813.
