Hoghton, Daniel  (17**- 16 May 1811)

Also as Houghton.

2nd son of the 6th Baronet. .

Cornet 11th Light Dragoons 1793,  Lieutenant 11th Light Dragoons 1793, Captain Independent Company 1793, Half-pay 1793, Captain 82nd Foot 1794, Major 97th Foot* 1794, Major 67th Foot 1795, Major 88th Foot 1799, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1796, Lieutenant-Colonel 8th Foot 1804, Brevet Colonel 1805, Brigadier General on the Staff 1809-1810, Major General 1810.

* disbanded 1795.

Early Service: India 1799-1802 and Egypt 1801-1802? West Indies 1809-1810, Nova Scotia 1810.

Peninsular War: On staff Cadiz April-October 1810. Commanded brigade 2nd Division October 1810-May 1811. Killed in action at Albuera 1811.
