Ross, Andrew  (17** - 26 September 1812)

Brother of Rear Admiral Sir John Ross RN.

Ensign 60th 1784, Half-pay, Ensign 55th Foot 1789, Lieutenant 55th Foot 1791, Captain Independent Company 1793, Captain 95th Foot* 1793,  Major Unattached 1794, Half-pay, Major in Reay Fencibles^ 1795, Major 54th Foot 1800, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1800, Lieutenant Colonel 44th Foot 1803, Lieutenant-Colonel 70th Foot 1803, Brevet Colonel 1809, Brigadier General on the Staff 1811, Major General 1812.

*disbanded 1796.  disbanded+ 1802.

Early Service: Quartermaster-General in the West Indies 1796. West Indies 1804.

Peninsular War: On staff in Cadiz 1811 and commanded in Cartagena 1811-1812. Served on East Coast of Spain 1812.  Died of illness in Cartagena 1812.

Aide de Camp to the King 1809.
