Spry, William Frederick (17** - 16 January 1814)

Son of Lieutenant General William Spry.

Ensign 70th Foot 1782, Lieutenant 73rd Foot* ? 1784, Half-pay, Lieutenant 64th Foot 1785, Captain-Lieutenant 77th Foot 1786, Captain 77th Foot 1787, Brevet Major 1795, Major 77th Foot 1797, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1800, Brevet Colonel 1810, Major General 1813.

*became 71st Foot 1786.

Served in Portuguese Service 1810-1814. Promoted Brigadier 1810, Major General 1813. 

Early Service: India 1787-1807 and at Seringapatam 1799.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigades of the Portuguese Army 1810-1814.  Died of illness in the peninsula 1814.
