Abercromby, Ralph (7 October 1734 -  28 March 1801)

Also as Ralph Abercrombie.

Brother of Lieutenant Colonel James Abercromby and General Sir Robert Abercromby.

Cornet 3rd Dragoon Guards 1756, Lieutenant 3rd Dragoon Guards 1760, Captain 3rd Dragoon Guards 1762, Major 3rd Dragoon Guards 1770, Lieutenant Colonel 3rd Dragoon Guards 1773,  Brevet Colonel 1780,  Half-pay 1783, Major General 1787, Lieutenant General Continent 1794, Lieutenant General 1797, General West Indies 1797, General Continent 1799.

Early Service: Continent in Seven Years War 1758-1762.

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1793-1795, Commander in West Indies 1795-1797, Commander-in-Chief Ireland 1797-1798, Commander in  Scotland 1798-1800 and  served Helder 1799, Commander-in-Chief Mediterranean 1800-1801 and Egypt 1801. Died of wounds Egypt 1801.

Colonel of the 103rd Foot 1781-178369th Foot 1790-1792, 6th Foot 1792-1795, 7th Dragoon Guards 1795-1796, 2nd Dragoons 1796-1801.
