Carhampton, Henry Lawes Luttrell 2nd Earl of (7 August 1743 - 25 April 1821)

Son of 1st Earl of Carhampton. Brother of Captain John Luttrell Olmius 3rd Earl of Carhampton, RN.

Styled as Lord Luttrell 1785-1787.

Ensign 48th Foot 1757, Lieutenant 34th Foot 1759, Captain 16th Light Dragoons 1759, Brevet Major 1762, Lieutenant Colonel Portugal 1762, Lieutenant Colonel 1st Horse* 1765,  Brevet Colonel 1777,  Major General 1782, Lieutenant General 1793, General 1798. 

*renamed the 4th Dragoon Guards 1788.

Early Service: Adjutant-General Portugal 1762.

Service 1793-1815: Lieutenant General of the Ordnance Ireland 1789-1797, Master General of the Ordnance Ireland 1797-1801. Commander-in-Chief Ireland 1796-1797.

MP 1768-1784, 1790-1794, 1817-1821. Succeeded as 2nd Earl of Carhampton 1787

Colonel of the 6th Dragoon Guards 1788-1821. Colonel of the 2nd Royal Irish Artillery 1789-1797,  of the Royal Irish Artillery 1797-1801.
