Don, George (1754 or 1756 - 1 January 1832)

Ensign 51st Foot 1770, Lieutenant 51st Foot 1774, Captain 51st Foot 1780,  Major 71st Foot* 1783,  Major 59th Foot 1784, Lieutenant Colonel 59th Foot 1789,  Brevet Colonel 1795,  Major General 1798, Lieutenant General 1805, General 1814.

*disbanded 1784

Early Service: Minorca 1771-1782, military secretary and Aide-de-Camp and prisoner of war. Gibraltar 1783-1792.

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1794-1796 as Deputy Adjutant-General and acting Adjutant-General, On Home Staff 1798,  Adjutant-General Ireland 1799, Helder 1799 and prisoner of war 1799-1800.  On staff Scotland 1802-1805, Hanover 1805,  on Home Staff 1806-1814,  commanded garrison on Walcheren 1809, Gibraltar 1814-1820.

Later Service: Gibraltar 1825-1831. Died Gibraltar 1832.

ADC to the King 1795. GCB 1820. GCH 1816.

Colonel of the 9th West India Regiment 1799-1805,  96th Foot 1805-1818, 36th Foot 1818-1829, 3rd Foot 1829-1832.
