Drummond, Gordon (21 September 1772 - 10 October 1854)

Younger brother of Captain Robert Drummond HEIC Marine and Admiral Sir Adam Drummond.

Ensign 1st Foot 1789, Lieutenant 41st Foot 1791 Captain 41st Foot 1792,  Major 23rd Foot 1794, Lieutenant Colonel 8th Foot 1794, Brevet Colonel 1798,  Brigadier General on the Staff 1804, Major General 1805, Lieutenant General 1811, General 1825.

Early Service: West Indies 1791-1792

Service 1793-1815:  Aide de Camp Ireland 1793-1794, Flanders 1794-1795, West Indies 1795-1796, Minorca 1799, Egypt 1801, Malta 1801, Gibraltar 1802, Home Staff 1804, West Indies 1805-1808.  On staff British North America 1808-1811, on staff Ireland 1811-1813, British North America during War of 1812 commanded in Upper Canada 1813-1814, wounded at Lundy's Lane July 1814. Temporary Governor General & Commander-in-Chief British North America 1814-1816.

KCB 1815. GCB 1817.

Colonel of the 97th Foot 1814 -1819, 88th Foot 1819-1824, 71st Foot 1824-1829, 49th Foot 1829-1846, 8th Foot 1846-1854.
