Finch, Edward  (26 April 1756 - 27 October 1843)

Son of the 3rd Earl of Aylesford. Brother of Rear-Admiral William Finch.

Cornet 11th Dragoons* 1778, Cornet 20th Light Dragoons+  1779,  Lieutenant 87th Foot^ 1779, Lieutenant & Captain Coldstream Foot Guards 1783, Captain & Lieutenant Colonel Coldstream Foot Guards 1792,  2nd Major Coldstream Foot Guards 1800,  1st Major Coldstream Foot Guards 1801, Brevet Colonel 1796, Brigadier General Mediterranean 1800, Major General 1801,  Lieutenant General 1808, General 1819.

*became 11th Light Dragoons 1783.  +disbanded 1783. ^disbanded 1784.

Early Service: West Indies and North America 1780-1782.

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1793-1794, Ireland 1798, Helder 1799,  Mediterranean 1800, Egypt 1801 and wounded,  on Home Staff 1803-1808 and  Hanover 1805, Copenhagen 1807.

MP  1789-1819

Colonel of the 54th Foot 1808-1809,  22nd Foot 1809-1843.
