Linsingen, Charles Baron (Linsingen, Karl Christian von) (6 January 1742 - 5 September 1830)

Styled Charles Baron Linsingen only while in British Service.

Entered Hanoverian Army: Cornet  1756, Lieutenant 1758, Captain 1777, Major  1791, Lieutenant Colonel 1795,  Colonel 9th Light Dragoon Regiment 1801. Joined British Service in 1st Light Dragoons* King's German Legion 1804, temporary rank of Major General 1804, Lieutenant General 1811,  permanent rank in British Army 1812. General Hanoverian Service 1815.

*renamed 1st Hussars.

Early Service: Continent Seven Years War 1756-1763.

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1794 and prisoner of war. Hanover 1803. On staff Ireland and Home Staff 1806-1813 and Hanover 1805, Copenhagen 1807, Walcheren 1809.

Other Service: Inspector of Hanoverian Cavalry 1816-1830. 

KCB (Honourary) 1815.  GCH. Created Graf von Linsingen 1816.

Colonel-Commandant of  Light Dragoons KGL  1804, Colonel of 1st  Light Dragoons 1804-1816,  Colonel of the 1st Guard Hussar Regiment Hanoverian Army 1816.
