Ludlow, George James (12 December 1758 - 16 April 1842)

2nd son of 1st Earl Ludlow.

Ensign 1st Foot Guards 1778, Lieutenant & Captain 1st Foot Guards 1781, Captain & Lieutenant Colonel 1st Foot Guards 1790, 3rd Major 1st Foot Guards 1800-1801,  Brevet Colonel 1795,  Major General 1798, Lieutenant General 1805, General 1814.

Early Service: North America 1781-1783 and prisoner of war 1781-1783.

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1793-1794 and wounded, on Home Staff 1798-1799, in Ireland 1800, Mediterranean 1800, Egypt 1801, on Home Staff 1803-1809 and in Hanover 1805, Copenhagen 1807.  

KB 1804. GCB 1815.  Succeeded as 3rd Earl Ludlow 1811.

Colonel Commandant of a Battalion 52nd Foot 1801-1803, Colonel of the  96th Foot 1803 -1805, 38th Foot 1805-1836, Scots Fusilier Guards 1836-1842.
