Prevost, George (19 May 1767 - 5 January 1816)

Son of Major General Augustine Prevost. Brother of Major General William Prevost and Captain James Prevost RN.

Ensign 60th Foot 1779, Lieutenant 47th Foot 1782, Captain 60th Foot 1783, Captain 25th Foot 1784, Major 60th Foot 1790, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1794, Lieutenant Colonel 60th Foot 1794, Brevet Colonel 1798,  Brigadier General West Indies 1798,  Major General 1805, Lieutenant General Nova Scotia 1808, Lieutenant General 1811.

Service 1793-1815: West Indies 1794-1796 and twice wounded, Barbados 1798, Governor St. Lucia 1798-1802, Captain-General and Governor Dominica 1802-1805,  on Home Staff 1805-1808,  Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia 1808-1811 and commanded a division at capture of Martinique 1809. Captain-General and Governor-in-Chief British North America 1811-1814 and during War of 1812. 

Created a Baronet 1805.

Colonel Commandant of the 5th Battalion 60th Foot 1806-1813, Colonel of 76th Foot 1813-1814,  16th Foot 1814-1816.
