Rottenburg, Francis Baron de (Franz Rottenburg) ( 4 or 8 November 1757 - 24 April 1832)

Styled as Baron de Rottenburg only while in British Service.

2nd Lieutenant French Army 1782, Lieutenant French Army 1785,  resigned 1791.  Entered British Service as Major Hompesch’s Hussars* 1795, Lieutenant Colonel Hompesch’s Light Infantry+ 1796, Lieutenant Colonel 60th Foot 1797, Brevet Colonel 1805,  Brigadier General on the Staff 1808, Major General 1810, Lieutenant General 1819.

*disbanded 1797. +formed 5th Battalion 60th Foot 1797.

Early Service: In Polish Uprising 1794 and wounded. 

Service 1793-1815: Ireland 1798, Surinam 1799,  on Staff Ireland 1808, Home Staff 1808-1810 and on  Walcheren 1809, British North America 1810-1815 and President and commanding Upper Canada 1813 and Left Division Lower Canada 1814-1815 in War of 1812.

Knight 1818. KCH 1817.

Colonel of de Roll’s Regiment 1813-1816.
