Wetherall, Frederick Augustus  (1754 - 18 December 1842)

Ensign 17th Foot 1775, Lieutenant 17th Foot 1776, Captain Independent Company 1781,  Captain 104th Foot* 1782,  Captain 11th Foot 1783, Brevet Major 1794, Lieutenant Colonel  3rd West India Regiment+ 1795, Lieutenant Colonel 82nd Foot 1796, Brevet Colonel 1802,  Brigadier General Cape of Good Hope 1806,  Major General 1809, Lieutenant General 1814, General 1837.

*disbanded 1783. +disbanded 1819.

Early Service: North America 1775-1780 and served in the fleet 1780. Gibraltar 1783-1789.

Service 1793-1815: British North America 1790-1794,  Aide-de-Camp West Indies 1794 and twice wounded,  British North America and a Deputy Adjutant General 1794,  West Indies 1795-1799 and prisoner of war 1795-1796, British North America 1799-1806 and Adjutant General 1799-1803?, Brigadier in West Indies 1806 as Adjutant-General, Cape of Good Hope 1806-1809, on staff Madras Presidency India 1809-1815, captured enroute and prisoner of war in 1810  and second in command at capture of Java 1811.

Knight 1833.  GCH 1833.

Colonel of the Nova Scotia Fencibles 1803-1816, 62nd Foot 1837-1840, 17th Foot 1840-1842.
