Gosselin, Gerard (4 February 1769 – 11 June 1859)

Younger brother of Admiral Thomas Le Marchant Gosselin RN. Older brother of Lieutenant Corbet Gosselin RN and Lieutenant Charles Gosselin.

2nd Lieutenant Marine Forces* 1780,  Half-pay 1783-1787,  Ensign 34th Foot 1787, Lieutenant 34th Foot 1791, Cornet and Sub-Lieutenant 2nd Life Guards 1791, Lieutenant 2nd Life Guards 1792, Captain 2nd Life Guards 1794, Captain Independent Company 1794,  Major 130th Foot+ 1794, Half-pay 1796, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1800, Brevet Colonel 1810, Major General 1813, Lieutenant General 1825, General 1841.

* became Royal Marines 1802.  + disbanded  1796.

Service 1793-1815: West Indies 1795-1796, Inspecting Field Officer Recruiting District Home Staff 1801-1813, Sicily 1813-1814 and capture of Genoa 1814, Nova Scotia 1814-1815 and capture of Maine War of 1812.

Other Service: Nova Scotia 1816.
