MacDonald, Donald (17** - 7 October 1812)

Son of Major Allan MacDonald.

Ensign 55th Foot 1773, Lieutenant 55th Foot 1775, Captain  55th Foot 1779,  Major 55th Foot 1793, Lieutenant Colonel 55th Foot 1793,  Brevet Colonel 1797, Brigadier General Guernsey 1799, Brigadier General on Staff 1803, Major General 1803, Lieutenant General 1810.

Early Service: British North America 1776-1778, West Indies 1778-1783 and prisoner of war 1782-1783(?)

Service 1793-1815: Flanders 1793-1795, West Indies 1796-1797, on Home Staff 1799, Helder 1799, on Home Staff 1803-1810.

Colonel of the Cape Regiment 1806-1811, 55th Foot 1811-1812
