Mackenzie, John Randoll (1763? - 28 July 1809)

(also spelt as M'Kenzie)

Styled as Mackenzie of Suddie.

2nd Lieutenant Marine Forces* 1778, 1st Lieutenant Marine Forces* 1780, Resigned Marine Forces* c.1791, Lieutenant 7th Foot 1793, Captain 78th Foot 1793,   Major 78th Foot 1794, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1794, Lieutenant Colonel 78th Foot 1796,  Brevet Colonel 1801, Brigadier General on the Staff 1804-1808, Major General 1808.

*became Royal Marines 1802.

Early service: Flanders 1794-1795, Cape of Good Hope 1796, India 1797-1801, on Home Staff 1803-1808.

Portugal & Spain: Commanded brigade in Portugal 1808-1809.

Peninsular War: Commanded a brigade April - June 1809, commanded brigade 3rd Division and  temporarily commanded 3rd Division June - July 1809. Killed in action at Talavera.

MP 1806-1809.
