Early Service: Flanders 1793,  Aide de Camp Ireland 1796-1799, Helder 1799, Egypt 1800-1801, Hanover 1805, Copenhagen 1807.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigade June 1809. Commanded brigade 4th Division June 1809. Commandant of Lisbon June 1809- April 1814.

Knighted 1815. KCH 1832. Colonel of the 19th Foot 1843-1849.
