Vivian, Richard Hussey (28 July 1775 - 20 August 1842)

Styled as Hussey Vivian.

Ensign 20th Foot 1793, Lieutenant Independent Company 1793, Lieutenant 54th Foot 1793, Captain 28th Foot 1794, Captain 7th Light Dragoons 1798, Major 7th Light Dragoons 1803,  Lieutenant Colonel 25th Light Dragoons 1804, Lieutenant Colonel 7th Light Dragoons 1804, Brevet Colonel 1812,  Major General 1814, Lieutenant General 1830.

Early Service: Flanders 1793-1795, Gibraltar 1796-1798, Helder 1799.

Portugal & Spain: Portugal & Spain 1808-1809 and at Corunna 1809.

Peninsular War: Served with his regiment from 1813. Commanded cavalry brigades September 1813 - April 1814. Wounded near Toulouse April 1814.

Other Service: Commanded 6th Cavalry Brigade Flanders and France and at Waterloo 1815. Commanded 2nd Cavalry Brigade Army of Occupation France 1815-1818. On Home Staff 1818-1825. Inspector General of Cavalry 1825-1830. Commander-in-Chief Ireland 1831- 1835. Master General of the Ordnance 1835-1841.

Aide De Camp to HRH the Prince Regent 1812.

MP 1820-1825, 1826-1831, 1832-1835,  1837-1841.

KCB  1815. GCB 1837.  KCH 1816. GCH 1831. Created a Baronet 1828. Created Baron Vivian 1841.

Colonel of the 12th Light Dragoons 1827-1837, 1st Dragoons 1837-1842.
