Burne, Robert  (1753? - 1825)

Ensign 36th Foot 1773, Lieutenant 36th Foot 1777, Captain-Lieutenant 36th Foot 1784, Captain 36th Foot 1785, Brevet Major 1794, Major 36th Foot 1798, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1798,  Lieutenant-Colonel 36th 1799, Brevet Colonel 1808, Brigadier General on the Staff 1811, Major General 1811, Lieutenant General 1821.

Early Service: India 1783-1799, Minorca 1800-1801, Hanover 1805,  South America 1806-1807.

Portugal & Spain : Portugal and at Vimeiro 1808. Spain 1808-1809 and at Corunna 1809.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigade 6th Division March -November 1811 and February-April 1812.  Temporarily commanded 6th Division November 1811-February 1812.

Other Service: On Walcheren 1809. On Home Staff 1813-1814.
