Doyle, John Milley (1781 - 9 August 1856)

Ensign 107th Foot* 1794, Lieutenant 108th Foot* 1794, Captain 81st Foot 1803, Captain 87th Foot 1804, Major EOPS 1809, Lieutenant-Colonel EOPS 1811, Half-pay 1820, Brevet Colonel 1825. Retired from the army 1825 with stationary rank.

* disbanded 1795.

Served in Portuguese Service 1809-1814. Promoted Lieutenant Colonel 16th Infantry Regiment 1809, Lieutenant Colonel 8th Regiment 1810, Lieutenant Colonel 19th Infantry Regiment 1811, Colonel 19th Infantry Regiment 1812.

Early Service: Ireland 1798, Aide De Camp Gibraltar 1799, Egypt 1801-1802, Aide De Camp and Inspector-General of Militia Guernsey 1805-1809.

Peninsular War: Commanded brigades of the Portuguese Army 1811-1814.

Other Service: Inspecting Field Officer of Militia Guernsey 1814-1815. Major General in service of Dom Pedro of Portugal 1832-1834. Sergeant-at-Arms House of Parliament 1853-1856.

MP 1831-1832. Knighted 1814. KCB 1815.
