Hinde, Samuel Venables  (17** - 20 September 1837)

Ensign 25th Foot 1788, Lieutenant 25th Foot 1792, Captain 25th Foot 1795, Brevet Major 1797, Major 32nd Foot 1800, Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 1802, Lieutenant-Colonel 32nd 1804, Brevet Colonel 1811,  Major General 1814, Lieutenant General 1830.

Early Service: Gibraltar 1788-1792, in the fleet Mediterranean 1793, Corsica 1794, in the fleet Mediterranean variously 1795-1797, Helder 1799 and wounded, Ireland 1801-1807, Copenhagen 1807, Mediterranean 1807-1808.

Portugal & Spain : Portugal and at Vimeiro 1808. Portugal and Spain 1808-1809 and at Corunna 1809.

Peninsular War: Served with his regiment 1811. Commanded brigade 6th Division November 1811-February 1812, April-May 1812 and June 1812-July 1813. Wounded at Bidassoa 1813

Other Service: On Walcheren 1809.  KCB 1831.

Colonel of the 98th Foot 1829-1832, 32nd Foot 1832-1837.
