A model of HMS St Lawrence from the Hamilton Military Museum, Hamilton, Ontario. HMS St Lawrence was constructed at Kingston, Upper Canada and launched on 10 September 1814. With 102 ports, this was the largest and most heavily armed vessel ever to sail the Great Lakes and immediately gave the Royal Navy dominance of Lake Ontario. She sortied three times with the Lake Ontario Squadron during the fall of 1814 and was eventually sold off in 1831 before being stripped down and used as a dock. Photo by John R. Grodzinski
