Eyewitness Account of Napoleon’s Entry into Berlin: 27 October 1806
Berlin, October 27, 1806.
H. M. the Emperor of the French and King of Italy made his entry in this capital today at three hours after the midday, for the most beautiful moment of the world. The Emperor was preceded by his guards of foot and horse, and was followed of a superb regiment of cuirassiers. All the habitants had gone ahead of H. M.; one saw only hats waved in the air; only the cries of sharp of long live the Emperor were heard! This evening, the entire city truthfully, one would believe was a part of in France given the atmosphere of a public celebration.
