Eylau: Precis Des Travaux de la Grande Armée
French Order of the Day: 2 November 1806
With the Emperor in the general district of Berlin, November 2, 1806.
The army is informed that Custrin fell to the Marshal Davoust. Major-General Gudin, entered yesterday at seven o’clock in the evening. H. M. saw with pleasure the division of this corps, which was distinguished at the battle from Jéna, collecting the most beautiful reward while entering first this beautiful and splendid fortified town.
There were in the place four thousand men who were made prisoners, ninety pieces of artillery on the ramparts, perfectly supplied, and considerable stores of subsistence.
The column of the Prussian General Bila was made captive on October 31 on the frontier of Swedish Pomerania, after the combat of Anklam. Major-General Becker, at the head of the brigade of Boussards dragons, charged the enemy vigorously, made them captive, and obliged it to capitulate. H. M. testifies his satisfaction with Major-General Becker and Boussards brigade of dragons. He already saw with pleasure the conduct of General Becker at the combats of Zehdenick and Viemendorf.
Prince de Neufchatel and Vallengin, Major-General of the grand-army.
Signed, marshal ALEX. BERTHIER.
