3e Corps d’Armée.—Maréchal Davout.

Chef d’état-major : Général Daultanne, puis adjudant-commandant Hervo.

Detachments which could have joined in at time convenient to take part in the operations of the December Campaign:

A detachment of 418 men of the 13th Light, depot in Ostend, crossed the Rhine at Mainz on October 9th and joined the regiment in Leipzig October the 23rd or 24th.

A detachment of 3 officers and 220 men of 17th Line, depot at the Reserve Corps in Boulogne, crossed the Rhine at Mainz on November 7th and joined its regiment on December 21st at Nieporent.  It had 38 days of marching, without counting the rests, from Mainz to Warsaw by Berlin, Küstrin and Posen; the detachment spent 45 days, that is to say 7 days of rest; but it is necessary not to forget moreover the march from Boulogne to Mainz, which was 26 days on the road, not including the rests.

A detachment of 2 officers and 90 men of the 30th Line, depot in Mainz, left this city on November 3rd; a second detachment of 1 officer and 100 men left the 9th and arrived, considerably reduced, December 20th at Nieporent5.

Two detachments, one of the 51st, the other of the 61st, depot in Mainz, each of 1 officer and 100 men, left this city on November 9th and arrived about December 20th.  It was very probably the same for all the detachments left Mainz on November 9th;  in fact the last can be regarded as having joined in enough time to take part in the December operations.

A detachment of 1 officer and 100 men of 33rd, depot in Mainz left this city on November 9th.

A detachment of 423 men of the 48th, depot in Antwerp, crossed the Rhine at Mainz on October 3rd and joined after the battle of the 14th; a second detachment of 1 officer and 86 men crossed at Mainz on October 30th.

A detachment of 411 men of the 108th, depot in Antwerp crossed the Rhine at Mainz on October 3rd; a detachment of 1 officer and 73 men crossed at Mainz on October 30th.

A detachment of 1 officer and 100 men of the 111th, depot in Mainz left this city on November 9th.

The 12th Line, depot in Mézières, did not receive a detachment.  One does not find a trace of a crossing at Mainz of reinforcements for this regiment since the beginning of the campaign until the end of January.  Also this regiment, which had suffered much on October 14th, was considerably reduced on January 20th.

A detachment of 119 acrobats of 21st Line, depot in Juliers, crossed the Rhine at Mainz on October 2nd and joined after the battle of the 14th; a second detachment of 1 officer and 133 men crossed at Mainz on November 8th.

A detachment of 300 men of the 25th Line, depot at the Reserve Corps in Boulogne, belonging to the 2nd column directed to the Grand Army, crossed the Rhine at Mainz on October 10th, had been reviewed by the Emperor at Berlin the 31st and left the following day to join the 3rd Corps in Frankfurt.  A second detachment of 1 officer and 171 men crossed at Mainz on November 7th.

A detachment of 1 officer and 100 men of the 85th, depot in Mainz left this city on November 9th.

The 3rd Corps received approximately 2,751 men since the battle of the 14th until the operations of December, to whit: the 1st Division, 1,035 men; 2nd Div., 1,193; 3rd Div., 523.  The depot of the 3rd Corps was in Küstrin.  Order of the Army of November 4, 1807.

The 1st, 2nd and 12th Chasseurs did not receive detachments before the crossing of the Vistula.

Notes:

1.The 4th Elite Battalion was formed from the companies of grenadiers and voltigeurs of the 3rd battalions of the 30th, of the 33rd and the 51st.

2. This regiment had left a detachment at Naumberg; 314 men crossed at Leipzig on 28 October joining the 3rd Corps.

3. The 1st and 12th Chasseurs, which were detached and had parties on all sides, had not been able to provide muster rolls.
