Albuera 1811 – The Electronic Archives: Panorama of the Battlefield

Edited by Guy Dempsey

Shortly after the battle, a unique panorama of the battle was painted.  The artist is unknown, but external evidence suggests this work is the preliminary sketch for a painting of the battle that was never executed.  The mountains in the background are disproportionately large, but otherwise this painting seems to be an accurate depiction of the battle as seen from a position near the village.

This picture is from the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection, Brown University Library which owns the copyright and is used with its permission.

Unfortunately the image is too large to show in its entirety, so I have had to divide it into three sections. Click on any of the images for a larger view.
