Austrian Landwehr in 1809: the Uniform Plates of Joseph Eder

In 1810, Joseph Eder, of Vienna, published a series of 13 uniform plates. These show the landwehr troops of the the entire Austrian Empire. The plates are very artistic and show the uniforms in great detail. The Austrian landwehr played in the 1809 war France and these contemporary uniform plates provides a important source of what was worn during the war.

These drawings originally appeared on line in German by our partner, Napoleon Online and are used with permission of the Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt. Please note that Markus Stein holds the copyright on all of these images.
