of the Napoleonic Wars.

[2]

of Franz I of Austria. He was made Viceroy of Lombardy in 1818.

Line Infantry Regiment Nr. 12 (German)
Regimental Designations and Colonels-in-Chief:
1792-1809: Infantry Regiment Marchese Manfredini Nr. 12
(Manfredini, Feldmarchalleutnant Federigo, Marchese)

Colonels:
Subordinate Officers (1799):
Sinzendorf, Oberstleutnant Rudolf, Graf
Weigeld, Oberstleutnant
Callenberg, Major Carl, Graf
Bojakowsky, Major Franz, Freiherr
Notes:
[1] There is some question as to whether Alois, Furst zu Liechtenstein
was actually colonel-in-chief of this regiment. In the Revolutionary
and Napoleonic Wars, two brothers held the title of Reigning Prince
of Liechtenstein: Alois I (1759-1805) and Johann I (1760-1836). Johann
I's son Alois later Alois II was born in 1796 and was therefore
unlikely to have been a Colonel in 1805 (or a Generalmajor and colonel-in-chief
four years later). As no other relatives during the same time-period
had the name Alois, it seems the colonel-in-chief may have been
Johann I a highly-experienced cavalry general serving in the Austrian
Army.

Feldmarschalleutnant Maximilian, Freiherr von) [1]
Colonels:
Subordinate Officers (1799):
Brea, Oberstleutnant
Polster, Major
Morzin, Major Graf
Notes:
[1] Maximilian, Freiherr von Wimpffen (1770-1854) had been Archduke
Karl-Ludwig's chief-of-staff during the Wagram Campaign in 1809. In
1813-1814, he held a divisional command.

[1] Several sources refer to this regiment at the beginning of the
Revolutionary War as Line Infantry Regiment [Prinz zu] Oranien Nr.
14 (with colonels-in-chief in the order Oranien-Klebeck-Rudolph).
There were several members of the House of Orange in Austrian service
including Generalmajor Friedrich-Wilhelm-Georg, Prinz zu Oranien
und Nassau-Dietz (1774-1799) but Klebeck is most commonly cited
as colonel-in-chief in the 1790's [also see Infantry Regiment Nr.
15 below].

of Franz I of Austria.
