Major in 35th Foot April 1789; Transferred to 81st Foot; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 1 March 1794; Lieutenant-Colonel in 6th Foot 29 April 1795 (on transfer from 81st Foot); brevet Colonel 1 January 1798; commanded 1/6th Foot 1795 to 1798; Brigadier-General in Leeward Islands May 1799; subsequently Major-General 1 January 1805; Lieutenant-General 4 June 1811; Lieutenant-Governor of Gibraltar in 1812.

Lt. Col. William Frederick McBean

Born c.1768; Major in 6th Foot 2 September 1795; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 1 January 1800; Lieutenant-Colonel 14 September 1804; commanded 2/6th Foot 1804 to 1808; retired May 1808; died 1821.

Lt. Col. Barnard Foord Bowes

Born Yorkshire 1769; Major in 85th Foot 1796; Lieutenant-Colonel in 6th Foot 1 December 1796 (on transfer from 85th Foot); commanded 1/6th Foot in Ireland 1798; Brevet Colonel 1 January 1805; served in Peninsula August 1808 to January 1809 as commander 4th Brigade; subsequently Major-General 25 July 1810; and again in Peninsula February to June 1812 as brigade commander in 4th and 6th Divisions; killed in action 24 June 1812 at Salamanca forts. Lt. Col. Alexander MacGregor Murray

Major in Clanalpine Fencibles 12 September 1800 (on transfer from 90th Foot); Lieutenant-Colonel in 6th Foot 24 April 1808 (on transfer from 67th Foot); commanded 2/6th Foot 1808 to 1812; exchanged to 4th Ceylon Regiment 17 September 1812.

Lt. Col. William Wade

Major in 52nd Foot 13 December 1803; Lieutenant-Colonel in 52nd Foot 8 September 1808; served in Peninsula with 52nd Foot August to October 1808; Lieutenant-Colonel in 6th Foot 14 December 1808; commanded 1/6th Foot in Peninsula November 1812 to February 1813; died in Lisbon 26 February 1813.

Major John Gardiner, C.B.

Major in 9th Garrison Battalion 1806; transferred to 6th Foot 28 May 1807; Assistant Adjutant-General at Walcheren 1809; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 29 October 1809; served in Peninsula with 1/6th Foot October to November 1813; commanded a brigade in 7th Division November 1813 to April 1814; brevet Colonel 12 August 1819; Assistant Adjutant-General at Horse Guards 1820; died 1851.

Lt. Col. Archibald Campbell, C.B.

Major in 84th Foot 14 February 1807; transferred to 4th Ceylon Regiment 8 March 1810; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 8 June 1810; Lieutenant-Colonel in 6th Foot 17 September 1812 (exchanged with Murray); served in Peninsula September 1812 to May 1814; commanded 1/6th Foot at Vittoria; brevet Colonel 12 August 1819.

Lt. Col. Thomas Carnie

Major in 6th Foot 14 September 1804; served in Peninsula with 1/6th Foot August 1808 to February 1809; with 2nd Battalion of Detachments March to April 1809; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 4 June 1811; and again in Peninsula November 1812 to May 1813; Lieutenant-Colonel 18 March 1813; commanded 1/6th Foot in Peninsula February to May 1813; transferred to 12th Foot 11 January 1816; retired 24 December 1818.

Major Dive Jones

Born Ireland 1773; Major in 6th Foot 23 November 1804 (on transfer from 54th Foot); served with both battalions but never in Peninsula; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 4 June 1811; retired 11 February 1812.

Major Sir Guy Campbell, Bart. C.B.

Born Scotland 1786 – son of Lieutenant-General Colin Campbell; served in Peninsula with 1/6th Foot August 1808 to January 1809; and again in Peninsula March to October 1813; Major 1 April 1813; wounded in Pyrenees 2 August 1813; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 26 August 1813; Assistant Adjutant-General at Waterloo; on half-pay 1820; died Dublin 1849.

Captain Hugh Maurice Scott

Born Coventry 1779; Captain in 6th Foot 27 January 1799; served in Peninsula with 1/6th Foot August 1808 to January 1809; served in Walcheren 1809; brevet Major 4 June 1811; and again in Peninsula November 1812 to April 1814; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 26 August 1813; commanded advanced guard of 7th Division 1813; commanded 1/6th Foot at Orthez; Major 26 December 1816 (after 18 years a Captain!); died Bombay 1827.

Major Henry Gomm

Major in 6th Foot 18 May 1809; brevet Lieutenant-Colonel 26 August 1813; never served in Peninsula; probably with 2nd battalion - shown as on detached duties in many Army Lists.
