The Russian Army in 1805 - 1807: the Uniform Plates of Johann Voltz

The famous art library Herzberg in Augsburg (near Munich) – the naming patron of the famous “Augsburger Uniform Series” – published a separate series of eight (hitherto known) plates about the Russian Army. Based on the detail of the uniforms, these plates depict the Russian Army between 1805 to 1807. The series had been drawn by Johann Michael Voltz, also one of the artists of the “Augsburger uniform series”, who is well known for his richness and accuracy of details, like his companion Johann Seele.

These drawings originally appeared on line in German by our partner, Napoleon Online and are used with the permission of the Landes- und Universitätsbibliothek Darmstadt. Please note that Markus Stein holds the copyright on all of these images.
