This is an extract from an history published in St. Peterburg in 1896 by officers from the regiment, and consists of six chapters and a multitude of appendices. It covers: the forming of a battalion from elements of the Guard and the Gatchina corps; the battalion at Austerlitz in 1805; the expansion of the battalion into a regiment, and its participation in the fighting in Prussia in 1807; the participation of one of its battalions in Finland in 1808-1809; the Patriotic War of 1812 (Smolensk, Borodino, Krasny); the continuation of the war from 1813-1815 (Lützen, Bautzen, Pirna, Kulm, Leipzig). I think this will particularly appeal to wargamers, as the text and appendices include detailed tables of organisation and equipment, as well as changes in uniform.
