Leopold Beyer's War Scenes: 1813 - 1815
During the time of the Wars
of Liberation (1813 - 1815), the draughtsman Leopold Beyer provided
a series of 12 drawings, which details the "misery" and the
appearance of the French troops. Due to their authenticity they represent
a valuable document for the evaluation of the outside appearance, in
addition, the "everyday life" of the Napoleonic ttroops in
the latter days of the French Empire.
These drawings originally appeared on line in German by our partner, Napoleon Online and are used with permission of the Kunstbibliothek in Berlin. Please note that Markus Stein holds the copyright on all of these images.
