How to Cite the Napoleon Series in a Bibliography

By Paul Chamberlain

Citing a source taken from the Internet is similar to citing a printed source in a bibliography. According to the Modern Language Association (MLA) the following is the correct format for citing an Internet source:

Author’s Last Name, Author’s First Name. “Title of the Article” Name of the Internet Site. Internet Address. Date Visited the Internet Site.

For example:

Davout, Louis. “FAQ#1: Why the French Beat the Prussians in 1806” Napoleon Series. 14 October 2015.

However, if you use Harvard Style, it is a bit different:

Author’s Last Name, Author’s First Name. Date of Article. Title of Article [online]. Hawaii: The Napoleon Series. Available from: url of the article [Accessed date].

For example:

Dawson, A. L., 2011. Some Notes on the Royal Artillery in the Peninsula 1808 [online]. Hawaii: The Napoleon Series. Available from: https://www.napoleon-series.org/military/organization/c_britisharty1808.html [Accessed 4 November 2015].

Placed on the Napoleon Series: 2001, updated March 2020.
